This one was drawn especially for Blake, who suggested I draw "poodles eating noodles." As you can see, our poodle pair are happily nomming on some noodles in a lovely cafe. I think they're on a date. If they hit it off, we'll have oodles of poodles to eat noodles...poodle noodle puppies!

Happy Birthday!
I just read this morning about a new baby red panda being born at the National Zoo in Washington DC. The new baby was born on June 16th, so I would imagine he or she is at about this stage of "D'aaaw" cuteness right about now...

Someone mentioned that with the addition of yesterday's cat and the Squeezebox Croc and the bears with the banjos, I am assembling myself a wicked little Zydeco band. I thought about it and thought "Who else is in this band?" And this is what I came up with...

'Possum plays a mean slide, baby.

88 of 365 Hey Diddle Diddle...

And they said it couldn't happen, but lo' and behold, we are LIVE again. Scanner death has been reversed through a process Dr. Frankenstein might envy and hence...we can commence with the Arting.

Let's get back ON with it, shall we?

ARRGH!

I have to apologize for the lack of entries in the last week -  I have been experiencing technical difficulties. My scanner has been doing all sorts of interesting things - making noises (grinding ones!), hiccuping, shaking, throwing out rainbow colored stripes and doing everything it can with the notable exception of taking the drawings I create and actually scanning them.
I am working to fix this situation, but it may take me a little bit.
Please do stand by...

I have spent part of the last couple of weeks trying to figure out what the heck a Shaolin Monkey is...and as I couldn't figure it out or find any reference for one, I made this one up. I hope you like it!

Penny gots a ball...

Now admittedly, I am not exactly a tough sell when it comes to falling in love with puppies...but sometimes you run across a puppy who is just SO cute that you're a little gobsmacked with it. And that's what happened to me today when I saw this little terrier puppy playing with her owner in the park. Molten puddle of goo - instantly.

So naturally, I had to draw her.

In keeping with the recent fantasy theme, today I give you a silly little hippocampi. Hippocampus? Hippocamp? Oh bother. Well, whatever you call it... it's a fantasy underwater horse type thing.

So first of all, please allow me to apologize for missing yesterday's post. I went to the doctor and got shots in my drawing arms. Shots, I might add, that I didn't know I was going to get. So I didn't have a cartoon already drawn by the time my appointment came 'round which I would ordinarily have done.

But I like to think that today's cartoon somewhat makes up for the miss. I really like this one.
Yet again, I have drawn something where there's clearly a story involved and it looks like a fairly interesting one, but I have no idea what it is. Whatever it is, I get the feeling that the burly guy just wanted to finish his beer in peace...

Sometimes when I draw, even I don't know about the story that my drawing is telling. This is one of those drawings. I don't know what's going on, but I know it looks interesting. I'm probably going to be coloring this guy eventually, in the hopes of finding out more.
Whatever's going on here, I have a feeling it's not going to end well...for someone..

It already didn't end well for the mouse.

It's spring here in the States, so I have my window open as I work in my atelier. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and the male birds are fighting to the point where I had to bang a cup against the window sill to get them to leave off. So I thought I'd go ahead and render an "artist's recreation" of the altercation.
Of course, the birds outside my window weren't as colorful as these two, but this is where "artistic license" kicks in.

I have to apologize for the recent lapse in Robbieverse entries.
As some of you already know, we had to put our 18 year old dachshund Basil Rathbone to sleep on Thursday. He was an amazing dog and my best buddy, so needless to say, it's been an extremely rough week for my family and I. Since these drawings come from my heart and my happy place, I couldn't do them when my heart was so sore and my happy place was nowhere to be found. I am slowly adjusting to life without my little guy, so as of today the Robbieverse will begin spinning again and the happy drawings will be coming back shortly.
But for the first drawing after such a sad time, I figured Sad Bear was appropriate.

It's a Baby Beluga!!

Yessir, at sixty seven drawings in, I am starting to find myself going "What animal have I never in my life drawn yet?" Tonight's answer was "A beluga whale." And now I can't say that anymore.
Beluga whales are very cute in real life. They look like they're smiling already, so they're kind of ready made to be cartoonized.

It's a FEEEESH.

I did the basic drawing for this guy at the aquarium portion of the Academy of Sciences today, which is where our animation class went on a drawing field trip. The rockfish are kind of ugly in real life, but there is no animal so ugly that I can't be-cuten them for my own nefarious purposes...

Does this toga make my snakes look fat?

So there I was, doing my homework like normal and when I decided to take a break to sketch something, Medusa came calling. I have no idea why. Maybe I watched one too many "Clash of the Titans" trailers last weekend or something. Anyhow, she's not colored or shaded or anything because a.) it's late and b.) I'm going to put some major mojo on her with the digital painting because I love her just that much.
