Got back from class today and was feeling a little slappy and goofy, so I decided to do a bit of the old Princess vs. Pea story with Photoshop.

Ya ever have one of those days? Well I'm having one today, so this cat seems to appropriate reflect the mood of the moment.

It's spring here in the States, so I have my window open as I work in my atelier. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and the male birds are fighting to the point where I had to bang a cup against the window sill to get them to leave off. So I thought I'd go ahead and render an "artist's recreation" of the altercation.
Of course, the birds outside my window weren't as colorful as these two, but this is where "artistic license" kicks in.

I think these guys might be in the same band as the Zydeco Croc from a few days ago. That's one heckuva band I seem to be assembling here.

This one is by special request from Reese, who wanted a Crocodile.

I have to apologize for the recent lapse in Robbieverse entries.
As some of you already know, we had to put our 18 year old dachshund Basil Rathbone to sleep on Thursday. He was an amazing dog and my best buddy, so needless to say, it's been an extremely rough week for my family and I. Since these drawings come from my heart and my happy place, I couldn't do them when my heart was so sore and my happy place was nowhere to be found. I am slowly adjusting to life without my little guy, so as of today the Robbieverse will begin spinning again and the happy drawings will be coming back shortly.
But for the first drawing after such a sad time, I figured Sad Bear was appropriate.

It's a Baby Beluga!!

Yessir, at sixty seven drawings in, I am starting to find myself going "What animal have I never in my life drawn yet?" Tonight's answer was "A beluga whale." And now I can't say that anymore.
Beluga whales are very cute in real life. They look like they're smiling already, so they're kind of ready made to be cartoonized.

I'll leave it to you to decide what's going on in this one. All I know is that I got a wild hair to play around with perspective today and I went with it.

Today's drawing is brought to you courtesy of a brush pen, Copic marker and inherently unstable power dynamics...

It's a FEEEESH.

I did the basic drawing for this guy at the aquarium portion of the Academy of Sciences today, which is where our animation class went on a drawing field trip. The rockfish are kind of ugly in real life, but there is no animal so ugly that I can't be-cuten them for my own nefarious purposes...
